bring in steve, live in london. how do the markets look, steve? >> very good day to you. if you're along these markets it's another torrid start. the asian markets fell over 2% earlier on today, 2.2% was the mean for the lacks of the hang seng and nikkei was down by a similar margin. they were down again. after having rallied. the london market, blue chips down 1 1/2%. germany, the market down 2.1% but the future of the u.s. indices are showing more negativity. the dow futures showing 2.1% lower and the longer context the dow is down 10% in the last two weeks. >> so germany down 2.1%, the futures down here. how much of this, steve, do you think is because of the s&p downgrade, the white house has attacked the s&p saying this is meaningless and got their math wrong but how is everyone reacting. >> we must not forget the s&p warned us back in april they could do this. the market was well prepared for what they were about to do regardless of the politics back in washington. the fact remains though this isn't just the u.s. debt crisis. it's also about what is going on in europe. not about gr

following last week's worst selloff in two years. cnbc's steve liesman joins me live. good morning. is this about what you expected? >> yeah, it's in line. we were down a little bit more in the 250, 260 range. came back a little bit. but we had a poor open and close in asia, europe did not do well. the one asset that's doing well is the asset that was downgraded, u.s. sovereign debt, ten-year notes were right -- we're doing pretty well. that was the opposite of what you might think. but at the end of the day what you have is a flight to safety. the ricochets keep coming. s&p also downgraded some other financial institutions that they say are reliant upon the u.s. sovereign debt. >> they're not backing off on -- they said they would do it again, but treasury secretary tim gooet near over on cnbc, he is absolutely furious with standard & poor's. let me splay a clip of what he had to say. >> i think s&p's shown really terrible judgment. they handled themselves very poorly and showed a stunning lack of knowledge about u.s. fiscal math. i think they drew exactly the wrong conclusion fro

getting up to highway 17. going to steve now? >>> the fog and even some drizzle we have been tracking measurable drizzle up the san mateo coast and foggy drizzle near the bay and around the shoreline as well. here is the latest fog pattern. we have quite a bit of coverage up towards santa rosa san jose. we have some clearing in fairfield and the same deal for antioch. as far as current numbers, monday morning right around 60 degrees. mountain view and concord in the upper 50s and last reporting 54 degrees. our forecast model shows it is still a bit stubborn right around san francisco. here we have this afternoon at 12:00 later on this afternoon and even by 6:00 this evening it will push back into the bay as we head into the evening hours. here is a quick forecast, areas of fog right around 60 degrees, sun cloud mix and still some coastal overcast, partly and mostly cloudy skies. a touch warmer but no significant warming, livermore right around 80, san jose mid- 70s. san francisco in the lower 60s. here is a look ahead. temperatures will be trending up just a little bit especially inla
